With Halloween here before you know it, don’t make the same errors from previous years and kill up with an unoriginal costume that seven other lame-o’s at the party are also wearing. You’ve got to think outside the box and be original. These three tips will help you choose the perfect costume for Halloween this year.

  1. Think of all the big-budget movies this year. Got your list ready? Noble, now erase them. Keep as far away from them as you can. Was there an X-men movie this year? Then you definitely want to pause away from being Wolverine or Storm. Did Spiderman 6 come out? Then don’t be Spiderman or the villain of the week. Harry Potter? Fuggeddaboutit. You accept the idea. If you try to dress up as a recent character, you run the risk of facing the dreadful nightmare of wearing the same thing as another party-goer, and inevitably drawing comparisons. Competition is bad and will not perform you stand out. Instead, you should try for something a bit older and “classic,” perhaps aged maybe 15 to 20 years. Why is this better? Because you can virtually warrant that the older you go, the less likely you will be a ringer of somebody else at the Halloween festivities. Plus, a character aged over a decade will elicit good feelings, because we were all a bit younger then, and we all probably had fonder memories from back then. Capiche? Prey on other party-goers’ happier pasts. What was popular support in your childhood? If you choose an original enough character, you’ll be rolling in the money. That you’ll be winning. From the costume contest. Am I right or am I good?
  2. Pay attention to the details. Now if you prefer to ignore the 1st tip, you can mild outdo the twelve other Spidermans at the party. How so? By paying attention to the tiny details. The limited things are what develop the character distinctive. So analyze the character’s costume thoroughly. Jot down every unique detail. What exact color pants is he usually wearing? “Brown” is not good enough, what exact shade and pattern? What kind of shoes does she sport? Does he tuck his shirt in? Does this character wear jewelry? Find yourself some photos and ask yourself these sorts of questions to get your costume faithful to the costume. Though people likely won’t notice a third the details, they’ll subconsciously see that you’ve got the best representation of that character at the party by a mile if you play along with this tip. Bonus tip: Adopt the character’s mannerisms, including how he speaks, trademark movements, and behavior.
  3. If all else fails, go with Disney costume ideas. Yup you read that right. You cannot lose with Disney characters. Everyone loves a Minnie Mouse or Donald Duck. But don’t stop there, there are a ton of great Disney movies out there and they are all so immediately recognizable. I mean c’mon, who dresses up as a Disney character these days? No one. Except you. And you will be spectacular. I think it’s high time to bring back the Mad Hatter and Aurora.
